Sathguruswamy, a telegu bhramin was born in the latter part of the 18th century. He was dumb till he was three years old. When his father took him to one Sri Gopala swamigal, the saint uttered the Rama nama in the child’s ear and the boy started speaking.

He became a great devotee of Lord Rama and became a pioneer in Bajana padhathi and nama sankeerthanam. He used to chant one lakh and eight Rama nama per day. He was immersed in Ram bajans. He worshipped Bagavan nama Bodendrar as his guru and asked the local king to locate the samadhi of Bodendra which was washed away by the cauvery floods. He was responsible in tracing out the works of Bodendra and Ayyaval. He was responsible for codifying the bajana paddadhi which is being followed even today. He attained Samadhi is 1817 A.D.
