Gopala Krishna Bharathi was a great tamil poet and devotee of Lord Nataraja of Chidambaram. He had written lot of tamil songs in various ragas. He had met Saint Thyaga Bhramam and wrote several poems as asked by him.

He was the first one to popularize Nandanar Charithram all over Tamilnadu.
