The place where Guru (Jupiter) and Vayu (the wind god) came together to do penance seeking to watch the divine dance of Lord Shiva and Parvathi is called
Guruvayoor.
Their wish was fulfilled. To commemorate the sanctity of this place, Lord Parasurama installed the deity of the childhood form of Lord Krishna. The Lord got the name
Guruvayoorappan. This deity is famous for its boon giving powers.
